To understand the positioning of the systems architecting process in the organization and to
understand the role and the task of the system architect. We start with a look at business processes and the position of the architecting process. Then we look at organizational aspects of systems architecting in relation to project management and marketing management. We discuss the role, responsibilities, deliverables, and profile of the system architect. We will discuss the common challenge of applying product lines, platforms, or re-use strategies. We start with the means to understand and to capture the understanding of the customer and the system context. We will discuss Requirements Capturing, CAFCR model, and customer key drivers.
