תיאור הפעילות

Hundreds of electronics designers in North America, China, and EMEA have experienced the Design for Environment Workshop. Participants report that the workshop forever changes the way they think about designs, emphasizing environmental, profitability, and reliability attributes.

The chief objectives of this day-long seminar are (1) to be prepared for the new and emerging environmental regulations and customer requirements affecting electronic products globally, and (2) to design electronics with environmentally-superior features and ones that boost competitive advantage.

Receive a proven DfE checklist, case studies, and a copy of seminar leader Pamela Gordon's book Lean and Green: Profit for Your Workplace and the Environment, comprising best practices from 17 electronics companies including Intel, Philips, and BAE. All of these tools will help you to meet current and future environmental requirements more easily and profitably. And enjoy discussing with other seminar participants how to apply the DfE principles to your products.

What you will learn

Come learn about new and emerging global environmental regulations and corporate customer requirements for electronic products and the most profitable and design-smart way to meet them. Hear how electronics corporations set and meet Design-for-Environment goals for competitive advantage.

The Packaging Waste and other relevant EU directives will be summarized. Also covered with be highlights from other regions' (e.g., China, California) relevant environmental regulations. A technical tutorial includes information about EuP, and design guidelines on reduction of power (AC and DC), RFI noise, batteries, and avoiding hazardous/toxic materials.

All participants will be introduced to the DfE checklist, including design for dematerialization, assembly/disassembly, reliability, reuse/upgrade, energy efficiency, and high-value recycling. Slides summarizing what other companies have learned from disassembling a variety of types of electronic products. Enjoy small group discussions on applying the DfE checklist.

Finally, receive best practices for the process side of meeting regulations. Hear DfE Case studies from peers and others, with insights from TFI's benchmark studies.

למשתתפים יחולק הספר פרי עטה של המרצה הגב' פמלה רינה גורדון:

Lean and Green: Profit for Your Workplace and the Environment, published by Berrett‑Koehler Publishers.
