Integration at large scale

A large scale system is an aggregation of systems / subsystems /units working together to enable the system to function as a whole. “Integration” refers to the incorporation of physical interfaces and the linking together of various computing systems and software applications—physically or functionally—so that they act as a coordinated whole. 

 

This seminar focuses on integration planning and strategy and the identification of the resources—integration laboratories, simulators and equipment—necessary for testing the various blocks during partial integration phases. The integrated blocks containing partial versions of subsystems, hardware, software and configurable parameters, and systems at various development phases and different maturity status. 

 

The integration plan has to be identified during early phases of system design, in order to plan the scheduling of various relationships between the different systems / subsystems composing the large scale system, resulting a robust and dependable system while reducing risks. 

 

By providing the professional concepts and engineering principles that will shift the word system integration from a buzzword involving numerous grey areas into well-defined and clear-cut of integration activities in terms of system engineering context, i.e., system specification and design activities and deliverables required for distributed development of systems / subsystems. The seminar includes both managerial and technical issues of system integration aiming to reduce the waste of effort invested in these grey areas, nowadays promoted by lean development processes.
