Fault Analysis; the effect of display type on operator's performance

Technology advances and automation introduction into industrial systems, not only led to a rise in the system's complexity, but also to a fundamental change to the nature and scope of the technician's role. This change led to the creation of Built-In-Test (BIT) in order to support the technician's work. The BIT system monitors the system's well-being and serves as a diagnostic tool for fault detection and isolation.

The work presented here, was an attempt to evaluate several information display options for the BIT system, with regard to the performance of the system's operator in tasks of fault analysis of a supervisory nature.
