Software defined Datacenter

Instructor: Boaz Chalamish, enior VP and GM, End-User Computing, VMware

As new developments in the areas of compute, storage and network are coupled with new applications architecture and needs, the datacenter of the cloud area will look very different than those we know for the last decade. In this lecture we will discuss the current trends in Datacenter technology, the ever growing demand for scale and reliability of cloud services and VMware’s vision for the large scale, Software defined datacenter. We will share our proposal for the next chapter in virtualization journey – converging Compute, Storage, Network, Security and Management into holistic software layer that provide the platform for modern apps to consume “as a service”. The lecture will describe the new technologies in development and will point to the areas that more innovation and research are still needed.
