Lecture Title: IT’S Cloudy out there: 10 technology challenges Cloud providers do not like to discuss

Dr. Zvi Guterman, CloudShare

Cloud computing provides clear benefits for IT professionals: functionality such as elasticity, disaster recovery and of course cost reduction. However, one should be aware of the technology challenges inherent in using a Cloud solution. In this talk we will cover these challenges and provide some specific examples of difficulties faced by the top Cloud providers.

Lecture Title: Disaster Recovery and the Cloud

Ziv Kedem, Co-Founder and CEO

The cloud presents an attractive opportunity for enterprises to reduce the cost and complexity of running their IT. There are several reasons that enterprises do not move their business critical applications to the cloud: security, compliance, control over their data, etc. Therefore we see the cloud used today mostly for secondary data: test / dev, internal IT applications, front-end web servers, etc. Another type of data is emerging: using the cloud for disaster recovery and business continuity. In this presentation, we will discuss why the cloud is attractive for disaster recovery, as well as the different types of solutions using the cloud for disaster recovery. These solutions span the gamut from using the cloud only as a low-cost low-performance storage device to fully automated business continuity and disaster recovery to the cloud.

Prior to founding Kashya, Ziv co-founded a successful outsourcing business, which provides expertise in algorithmic optimization, security techniques and sophisticated communication technologies for leading international technology companies. Additionally, Ziv served as a research scientist in an elite research unit of the Intelligence Corps for the IDF, where he developed and applied solutions to problems in the fields of mathematics, algorithms and signal processing.
