Software at Enormous Scale
Tuesday Oct. 30, 2007 - Invited talk
In this talk, you
will learn that supporting the needs of hundreds of millions, even
billions of users requires a different approach to computing. The
search companies such as Google have pioneered massive data analysis
and management technologies. These new ways to compute are also needed
to support deep data analysis, societal social networks, sharing of
knowledge and creations. This talk will describe the evolution from
simple applications to these exciting applications, and examine the
corresponding shifts in technology and viewpoint. In other words, how
do we solve today's big problems, and how will we attack even more
formidable ones in the future?
